It looks like it is from a 68 or newer F-500-up truck

It is chrome and black, so it is from a 73-79 (dent side) F500 or bigger. Looks good!

Also.... that "auto" steering column is not original as the truck had a manual trans. Is there any sources to get a manual steering column? Or is the wrecking yard my best bet 8)

Just returned from the wreckers and scored on a manual floor shift steering column!

Also picked up a factory installed A/C unit and misc. parts.

I was also surprised to see a couple instrument clusters in real good shape... if I was going to go back to original I would have most certainly scored again!

Keep the cluster you have. Or if you do go back to factory i will buy that one from you. If you scored a factory floor shift colum you just scored a big money part as they are like a needle in a hay stack to find. That part alone if you was to list it on the bay just might bring more than you gave for the whole truck. j/k Maybe like $500 or better
