Sorry I havent been around.... I crashed my 67

Post by morganater »

Last saturday night (call it morning) I got into a very bad crash in my 67. I went into a ditch and slammed into some trees really hard. The fenders sheared off, the bed is smashed in a foot from the force and rippled, the drivers door is also bent into a V, hood demolished, bumper a zigzag, radiator support pushed in a foot, winshield cracked (from my head slamming into it) and my knee cracked my plastic instrument panel surround in the accident. Interesting thing is, my steering wheel is bent forward on both sides about 3-4 inches towards the dash!!! Gross thing is, i bit through my tounge almost all the way and had to get 5 stitches in it.

It was a huge lesson learned. I feel like a complete loser, but i'm healing.
Now, time to swap the motor into my other swb and get back on the road.

I'll try to post some pics later guys.

Glad to hear you are alright for the most part. Too bad about your truck though. My sister bit her tongue off like that, very painful..

Sorry about your truck hope you get to feeling better... I did something simular last night with my 72 and I was going the speed limit. Wet roads 90* turn and some weird rear brakes+=hard landing in a ditch. Everything is ok though fortunately...built ford tough.

Morganater, I'm glad you're ok. You seem to be in pretty good spirits considering what you've been through. Musta hit pretty hard to bend the steal ring in the steering wheel. You said you learned a lesson, but did not elaborate. Perhaps others could benefit from this without going through the agony if you shed a little more light on the situation. Take 'er easy until you are fully well.
That's MR. Jackass to you fellah!

Morganater, glad you got through that one. I had a similar experience 3years ago. Rolled one of my 67s due to another driver on the interstate. Speedy recovery to you, sorry about your truck.
