3G Alt

Post by 460 crew »

Ok I want to run down what I need for sure for adding myLoad boss 105A 3G atl.
I am using this diagram http://www.bcbroncos.com/3ginstall.pdf

So I should be grounded out fine by just mounting this thing to my engine (not needing another ground off the alt to the engine or chassis)

The LG/RED wire to starter (hot on run/start) what is an easy source to tap into that you all have used?

Now the wire with the 175A mega fuse from the B+ terminal I am thinking of using a 2ga wire with this fuse and holder? http://bcbroncos.com/store/product_info ... cts_id=562

Is this good? As I understand I will have to run an aftermarket voltage meter.

Just wanting to make sure on this B4 I tear it apart

Check your alternator mount & make sure it is clean, rust free, etc. An additional ground lead off the alt is a good idea as well. I think i'd run a 125 amp fuse, and a 4ga charge lead, in addition to the large factory charge wire.

460 Crew,

If you haven’t got it hooked up yet…

I would still hook up a ground wire as you can never have enough good grounds and bad ground connections are the number one cause of electrical gremlins.

I attached another diagram for you that’s pretty much the same just a little more details…

On the LG/RED wire, look for the wire going to the stock voltage regulator in the main wiring harness from the cab. Looking at the wire diagrams it should be the “Green – red stripeâ€Â

That’s a good link for the cables, I book marked it.
Another place you can look for the fuse holders and power cables is any of the Car Audio places, as the power wires and fuses for the amplifiers are rated up to these amperages.

Hope it goes smoooooothly.
