Post by cghstrojan08 »

I just got a 1999 Ranger. Mp3 cd's will not play in it. What kind of file do I need to change them to? I think maybe wav? Thanks

It probably doesn't support anything but normal CDs if it is a stock unit.

If you want MP3 capability then you probably need to get an aftermarket head unit from some place.

I get my stuff from Chruchfields. They are good on price and have good tech support. They have MP3 units from $100 on up.

Is it a stock unit, or aftermarket? Model #??

If it is a stock headunit, then I am not surprised. MP3 wasn't exactly that well-known in '99. You need to encode them to CD, not just burn MP3s to a cd.

Your burner software should have the option to create a music cd from MP3s

This is going back a good 8-9 years when I had to do this but from what I remember you make them .wav files and a normal cd player will play it. I always used Winamp to convert them, it is a free program and really easy to use.
