'67 and '68 doors?
I know they are different beasts, but can a '68+ door be made to work like the '67? Door panel, door handles and such? Does it just require the mechanisms in the door itself or is everything different?

Too different to try I would say. I guess you could gut them both and cut the inner doors out of the 67 and weld them into the 68, but I would either live with the 68 mechanism or look for good 67 doors.

Here's a shot of the inside of both doors.
You'd have to do a lot of modification to make them work. Not only would you have to cut out the complete interior door shell and swap it over, you'd also have to change the latch mechanisms, since they're different as well.

Dang. I've got a set of '68 doors in pretty good shape, I'll just have to live with them.

This is actually a very easy swap amazingly enough. All you have to do is cut out a patch around the armrest mount and door latch area and then trim the old door so it overlaps about an inch all the way around and then rivet screw or weld it on. BTW, put the patch on the inside so that the door panel and patch sandwich the original metal so when you pull on the armrest you are not loading the patch. The harder part is drilling a hole for the button as there is a wide spot on a 68 door that is not there on a 67. You do also have to change the latch but that is easy too. I did this on my old 67 years ago. took about two hours total. Hawkrod
