I hope I'm not rehashing anything that I've read, but here are my questions:
Brakes. I'm putitng a 1973 D60 in my truck, and was wondering how hard it is to put disc brakes on it, or if the drums are sufficient enough to stop me. Truck has power brakes now on a D44 closed knuckle. I'm only interested in disc on the front, leaving the drums on the rear.
Power steering. I've read lots about it, and have maybe come to the conclusion that having the power assist that's on it now will work fine, if not better than converting it to a "normal" syste. Can anyone out there give me any pointers? How can I imporve the power ram assist?
On the axle. One member said that the D60 is nothing more than a glorified D44. My D44 is the BIG BALL style. So, is it worth my time to do the swop? It's year for year, closed knuckle and all. Reason why I'm planning on the swop is that I'm putting a 99 Cummins ISB engine into the truck. Will the 60 be better for the weight increase?
Thanks guys, as I'm sure I'll be a normal visitor to this site over the next year while I do my Diesel conversion.
