Yep. I pulled out the bench and placed the seats before welding to see how they would do. There's a tradeoff between getting the maximum pitch and not loosing what's left of the leg room. The gas tank didn't make any difference. All taking it out would do is give more possible leg room but you'd be sitting straight up
I showed Keith's custom bucket install photo to my carpenter buddy and he said he'd do me up way nicer using mahogany

re: Bucket seat conversion ideas
I'm installing buckets in my choptop, but the situation is a little different. Because of the radical chop, the seats need to be really low. With no seats in there, you can sit on the floorpan and look straight through the middle of the windshield, so the Probe buckets I'm installing will be mounted directly to the floorpan...no adjusters...to keep them as low as possible. The inside two bolts on each seat will bolt straight to the pan, the outside two mounts on each side will require custom brackets. I cut up an old grille guard I had and used the pieces for those brackets. Here's a few pictures of the semi-finished brackets. I'll whip up some kind of attractive cover to hide them once I start reinstalling the interior:

Here are images of passenger and driver bucket seat install. I just spent 3 hours of my afternoon finally figuring out how to get them loaded. Supposed to be painting the garage.
Each side has a fabricated bracket. Their different from each other because the floor pan is different side to side. Who knew?

I appreciate the input. I was looking at the seat possiblities from other Ford trucks the Keith posted on this site. I believe I see some possible options. I would like to incorporate a center console while I'm at it for storage, drink holder, etc.
