On the road again - SuperNats or Bust
Just a quick Note From The Road, enroute to SuperNats from Middleton WI. Had to go in to work, so packed the truck and drove, thought I'd get away by Noon but it was almost 4 before I got on Interstate headed south down through IL (avoiding Chicago), doing the Bloomington Normal -Champaign Urbana route across to Indy. I started having trans heating problems if in OD, ( trans temp gauge showing 230-+), so I am making most of trip the old fashioned way (1 to 1 final drive ratio at easy 3-3200 rpm at 70-75, but this evening after dark I used OD for a good long while but it still got up over 210. Went around the 465 INDY Loop and got as far as Shelbyville on 74 E and called it a night at a little after 10. So I should be in good shape for easy drive to Knoxville Wed. probably getting there a little after lunch. Have seen absolutely no Trucks that look like they are headed there, or even any Hot Rods at all, a Tuner here & there, a few cops and I have Killed Every Single Bug in the Entire Midwest. And have the windshield to prove it!! LATER ya all ...

Go man, go!!
I sure hope you have a lot of cards for your digital camera (or lots of film). I wanna see LOTS of pics. At least for this year I'll have to live vicariously through you.

Did you register your truck, or are you just going to observe all the other trucks? Good luck with the trip, hopefully you will have a pleasant drive the rest of the way.
Anyother board members going?
I really wanted to go this year since I live in Charlotte, NC (just a few hours away) but had some medical bills and some extra machining cost on my rebuild is causing me to cancel this year. I guess there's a slight possiblity I would go up for the day saturday.

re: On the road again - SuperNats or Bust - DAY 2
Slept in a little and left Shelbyville IN around 9:AM tried using OD but trans heated up really quick, so shut it off and drove rest of way in without it and trans stayed around 200-210. Just into KY on I75 my windsheild took a hit from something and I have like a silver dollar size fracture on passenger side. Fortunately I'm "in good hands with Allstate" and a couple phone calls and I have a 9AM Appt at the Knoxville Safelite
shop for a new one covered by my comprhensive (No Deductible) coverage.
Went to this Chilhowee Park around 4: to see where it was and what was going on. Today is vendors day so no regular Registration was
going on, that starts at 8AM Thursday I was told by Mrs Ford. Lots & lots of trucks already here and many parking spaces reserved with charirs and E Z ups.
Found a 2 dollar spray wash and got the majority of the bugs off the front and wiped the truck down enough not to be ashamed of it. Met a really nice Big Rig Truckdriver in the Motel parking lot and another guy in a 29 A pick Up who has a 69 Ranger and I gave away my 1st Fordification card to him, he's from Joilet IL.
Thansks for Off er Chris thats very generous and it was nice talking to you. I think I'll be OK till I get it home and try to get to bottom of this-pretty sure it's the converter.

Man that must be awesome. I reckon when I get back to the states I'll make it up there. My Sister and Br-in-law live right outside Knoxville...little place called Maryville.
Take photos so we can all live vicariously through your experience.
Have a great time!! Good deal with the windshield.
