That does sound like it could be the ignition switch or wires from it to the coil.
The thing to check is take a test light, turn the key to the RUN position... Put the test light on the Positive cable on the coil, the light should be on... If it is not then you have a problem with the switch or the wire from the switch to the coil...

Let us know how that goes...

dieing for 30 minutes until it will restart sounds like vapor lock.
