It just so happens that my little brother has a set ( 1 steer and 1 rear)
It is too bad that you are 3000 miles away -he wants like $400 for the set

re: Car Trailer Rental
I flat towed a Full size Dodge Truck with my Caravan all the way from Southern Kentucky to Northern Illinois with no problem at all.
Why not flat tow it? I just took out the upper bolts at the frame rails off the bumper and bolt my towbar on. Hook up safety chains and light and off I went. The van has a 3.3 and it pulled great no sway not much downshifting from the 4spd auto and no overheating.

re: Car Trailer Rental
75-4x4guy: When did the trucks start getting synchronized trannys? I've been looking around the last year or two and some have synchros, some don't. I haven't been able to find info on how to tell(other than driving).
Well, I'm going to head out to the UHaul place tomorrow and hope all goes well. Does anyone know the optimal hitch height for towing those trailers? My rig is setup for a 35" tall pintle hitch right now so I know I have to get a drop ball, just not sure how far. A 6" drop hitch would put me 18" above the ground. Is that around their trailers height?
Meet-n-greet sounds good. Any interesting events coming up or just meet-n-eat?

Hey Mike, I'm always up for a get together. Life has been keeping me unbelievably busy and will remain so, probably until we finish this plane, but I need R&R too. I'll be making 2-3 trips to Wichita before mid June, among other things going on, but if I'm not busy with other stuff, I'm there!

You know what would be kinda a fun get-together? Going to someone's place like the new guy with the six in Ballard and helping him sort out his truck. Used to call this "tech sessions" back when I was in clubs many years ago. Only fun thing those clubs did.
Boy, the internet is sure a lot more fun than clubs, eh (I mean, those clubs you join just to get the newsletter)? Years ago I belonged to bunches of them, now I only belong to a vintage motorcycle club, as they have great rides and a killer banquet once a year.

That's a great idea. That's one of the main reasons I joined a 4x4 club and I've been getting into the local hot rod scene.

re: Car Trailer Rental
It really was pretty fun. Usually everyone would bring tune up parts for their own car and just do some general adjusting and fooling around, but there would always be one or two bigger projects going on where you could learn something.
Heck, even having a guy who knows his way around timing or carbs to ask questions of can really be a help to those guys who have never done much of their own work. And, of course, a lot of standing around drinking beer and bs swapping happens, too.
Hardest thing is to find a place to do it where there's enough room for everyone's truck. But if you concentrate on one guy's ride, then it's just a matter of finding enough street parking.
