turn signals speed up
I just replaced my alternator and now as the rpm increases so does the speed of my turn singnals. I didnt have this problem before I replaced the alternator... so why now? I know that output increases as rmp increases and this may be a viable reason for the blinkers speeding up, but why didnt it do this before?

i am unsure on this. but i do know there are two kinds of flasher units for ther blinkers and the flashers. the flashers usea heavy duty unit. for all four flashers to work at one time. the blinkers use a regular flasher unit. maybe since your alt was weak and went bad or was going bad someone had heavyduty flasher unit in the blinker postion for towing things. and when you got the alt fixed it started to work properly. this is just a guess to confirm, check your flasher numbers at the parts stores to see if they are haevay duty for both the blinkers and the flashers or if only one is heavy duty.
to locate the flasher untis. the flasher unit is under the dash oin the passenger side of the steering column someplace behind the cigar lighter. the blinker flasher unit is on the drivers side of the column under the dash behind the speedometer.

Do your headlights get a lot brighter with RPM? some is normal... I wounder if your voltage regulator is not working correctly and putting out to much voltage... If you have a hand held volt meter check it at the battery and see what it is with the engine running...

re: turn signals speed up
I would think this would be normal behavior, with increased voltage from the new alt, the flasher unit would heat up faster.

Normal for your truck, especially at night. You have to remember that your truck probably only has a 35-40amp alternator, which isn't a lot of juice. When you are idling at night, and the alt. is having to run all of the lights, your signals are going to blink much slower.
