68 Antenna--how do you gain access
Found a perfectly good antenna at the junkyard for my 68, but have no clue as to how to remove it, or what tools I may need. Hard to find item at the junkyard!

On mine I just unscrewed the nut from the top, then fished it out the hole. Has a expandable wing-nut type thing on the inside to hold it.
In life many men take the path of righteousness, some take the path many others follow (G.M. owners, for example), some take a more arduous path, some a simpler path. I, sir, took the PSYCO-PATH!!

Hey T-bone...
That's an easy one...
If it is the stock style...
Use a flat screw driver to pop off the cover over the base...
you'll see when yer lookin' at it that there is a crimped place on each side. Just a little leverage there will pop it right off.
Under that is the mounting plate itself...
I can't remember off the top of my head if it has two or four phillips head screws holding it on (I think there are two).
That's really all that holds it.
You may need to loosen a nut on the bottom of the antenna shaft. But you will see that as soon as you pop the cover off.
I replaced the non-stock one on my '68 with a stock one a little over a year ago, and can't remember if they both had the nut on the antenna shaft or not...
when yer pulling it out you might need to get inside a couple of times to help feed the cable thru...
All in all ... it's a real simple job...
Good luck...
