Heater Core Replacement

Post by HOWDY69 »

I am getting ready to gather parts to replace my heater core.
I have dealer AC so I am assuming I need the w/o AC core.
Also, what else should I assume will disintegrate or I will break when I take it apart so I can order the parts now? Finally, is there any reason not to bypass the heater core so I can drive the truck till the parts get here?

Sure, you can bypass the heater core without problem. I had one apart a year or two ago. Here are some photos. The attachment is Keith's exploded view.

yeah you can bipass it easily. i took out my whole heater core because it doesnt work withough the big cover which i dont have and the core was just taking leg room. i thought i had a picture of the heater hose looped around bipassing the core but i dont. i can take one later if you would like.

Thanks. Just got the box out and the core removed. Box looks good. The rubber connector to the fresh air inlet has a few hole in it but I can get that from LMC. Napa has the core so I am headed that way. Less than 20 bucks for a core and it is in stock. Got to love these trucks.
