Ryan, if your Dad cant find a good heater control valve at the junk yard, they sell them in NPD for about $29. But hopefully he can find one for you, its always more fun to find a good junkyard deal. ![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Ryan,
Yes, you have the damper so you're ok there. Sorry I didn't see it in the earlier picture.

Also need to get some duct tape or something over the ends of all the A/C components you're gonna reuse. Dirt etc. is an air-conditioners worst enemy inside the refrigerant side of the system.
Hope this helps.

edited for duct taping.

If it's a EPA licensed technician like myself this is done with nitrogen, a set of gages, and a regulator, (nitrogen is a stable gas so temperature won't affect your pressure reading like it would freon). Might be easier for you to take the coil to someone beforehand for pressure-testing. Only reason I'm suggesting this is because I know how hard they are to get in and out! You can wait and do your pressure testing once you've got the entire system piped back together, (but then you gotta remove the inside pleunum assembly if you have a leak there).how do you pressure test the evaporator?

Ryan,
Industry standard when referring to nitrogen testing.
You could do it with any number of gasses, (or air pressure) just not as accurate of results.
PTR=pressure/temperature/relationship, (with a given temperature is a given pressure). Raise that temperature and the pressure will also raise).
If the evaporator coil shows a sign of a leak under pressure...
Now is the time to patch the leak/not after you have the whole system piped back together and find a leak.
You're doing a good job and gaining a lot of valuable experience in the process!
Hope this helps.

Any automotive AC shop should be able to do it for you.

Ryan,
You are a breath of fresh air. You do not hesitate to ask questions, that many of us more elderly bump owners are afraid to ask !! I have learned alot from your post. You have made more progress on your air conditioning in a couple weeks than I have in 6 months. Keep up the good work, and thanks for using the word thingy, it's what I call half the parts in my truck.
