Revamping Doors & Windows

Post by erikhillard »

Been a while since I've posted. Guess I've just been driving. :-)

Insulated the back of my door panels and purchased new vent window gaskets. Insulating the doors made a huge difference with the ride noise.

Now I am realizing, after reading the door instructions on this site, that I should be replacing the window fuzzies at the same time. For whatever reason I don't see them in the LMC catalog. Maybe I'm blind.

I'm going to grease the window regulators and door hinge parts in hopes that they can work better and not need replacing. Anything else I should be doing while I'm in there?

Any recommendation on where to get window fuzzies?

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

I don't know exactly when yet but after doing a bit of research, i'm plan on using second skin. They seem to have the most comprehensive list of products and they have excellent customer support thru their forum.

I used an item from the LMC catalog. I put EVA Sound Deadener and a Heat Sheild Kit on the floor. The Sound Control Mat sheets I put on the backside of the door panels (2 each). It worked so well I ordered more and am going to put in on the floor too before I have carpet put in.

The Sound Control Mats are really easy to work with, but a bit pricey.

However, I can now talk on the phone in the truck (not sure that is really a good thing) but the drive noise has been significantly cut out.

They are on page 71 on the LMC catalog I have.

The LMC stuff looks like the Deamplifier stuff on that website.

Yea, I don't think this stuff is magic. It's been around a long time. They just seem to have the most comprehensive list of products.

I've now put the LMC stuff on my door panels and floor boards. Might do under the seat but maybe not. It is a HUGE difference in road noise. The heat sheild and other sound mat from LMC probably contributes too.
