I have a '77 Crew, but I believe the vent window handle is the same as on the bumps.
Mine are completely worn out. They flop around and don't even begin to seal the window. I have a folded up piece up paper jammed under the nylon tip in order to get it tight enough not to whistle. Same on the passenger side.
Anyway, I want to fix this. Is replacement of the handle sufficient to solve the problem? Or will I find that the shaft the handle pivots on is bent or worn? If so, is that fixable?
My '77 handle has a locking button built into it - is this part of the reason it is so loose? The locking button has fallen out. (I don't care if the replacement has the locking feature)
Finally, how do you get that teeny tiny pin out of there? I know I'll need to get a drift (anyone know what size?) but whacking on the handle in place is awkward and ineffective. Should the pin be pressed out? If so, how? Or, will I simply have to remove the vent window assembly to do this job?
Thanks
Replacing vent window handle

our bumps didnt have the locking feature. replacing the handle will possibly fix your problem unless the seals are all worn out. but there probably ok. as for getting the pin out i would start with a ice pick and use that to get the roll pin started out of the hole. once its started you could probably use some pliers or something to just pull it the rest of the way out. i wouldnt think you would need to remove the assembly just for that reason. just use caution when removing it.
