Bench Seat Restoration

Thats pretty much it.

The back cover fit almost perfect. The bottom fit the cushion well, but the points for tying everything down didn't match up so good. I had to use a stainless steel wire to bridge the gap and tie it down in some spots. There were a few other odds and ends that made me have to think, but nothing too hard. The whole thing only took me a couple hours from beginning to end.

My cousin had a bench seat out of a '77 F250 redone in Ft. Collins, CO for $350.

$800 is definitely out of line.

obviously, the springs would be made out of gold and the seats included the rare gold plating along sides and bottom portion. not to mention the butt warmer and optional ejection cutout. jeeze!

I haven't done anything with my seat yet. I'm finishing a home remodel and it has sucked up all my cash. I've also had another house on the market for 6 months w/o on reasonable offer. Arg.

That's the seat cover I want to use in my truck, as well (in black). The only problem is that it doesn't include the seat-back buttons, and I don't know if the upholstery has pre-cut holes for them. So I either need to find some seat buttons, or find a different solution.

FYI, NPD sells this same cover, but I don't know how the price compares.

I may go that route, as well. My seat has some "issues" with the springs, etc., so it needs some TLC from an upholsterer who knows what he's doing, and not me hacking around with hog-ring pliers. I like the design of your seat, though I'd like to use all black and use a black microsuede for the the white areas.

I cousin recovers a basic seat for under $150.00

I found the factory seat to be to springy, especially with the suspension and power upgrades. I got a 1993 seat with flip down arm rest and air lumbar for $20.00 at the junk yard and the price to recover before I switched to leather was $150.00.

Hey Eman,
I just finished reupholstering my bench seat. I used small U-bolts to repair the springs, I just spliced the broken ends. I also had a few spots of bad foam where the broken springs had gouged it out, I just cut it out and glued in some new foam that I got from a fabric store. The seat cover I got from NPD.

Seat cover - $180.00
U-bolts - $5.00
Foam - $4.00
