Can anyone help me reconnect the heater control cables to my heater box? There is a long one and a short one and I cannot remember which one goes to which connection on the sliders. I made a note of how they connected to the heater box, so I know that is right.
Also can anyone help me figure out how to route those long cables? I took this thing apart a year ago, and I can't remember how to put it back together again! Maybe I should rename my project Humpty Dumpty!

I don't even have a heater. All I have is a rectangular hole in the dash with a cable hanging out. Talk about humpty dumpty! It was like that from the previous owner. I'll tackle that last.
you can work better on your heater cables/vent tube installs if you'll pull the ashtray assy out first (whole deal) that helps you get a good hand inside and can see better. After monkeying w/cables, etc and you're ready to reassy, put back in entire ashtray assy and rehook driver side defrost hose to heater base thing dead last. Remember the frame thing for ashtray has to come in from backside of dash.
Yeah Banjo, mine is alrady out. I see the need for that.

because the bottom control is "closed" when it's half way over.
This would be due to the position the outer cable sheath is clamped into the bracket. Try moving the outer cable jacket, (spring looking) in it's mounting position an inch or two one way or the other.
Or the two cables got switched around, (I think I remember one being just a little longer than the other).

alot of times the sleve on the cable itself has a dirt line from whereit used to sit in the bracket and bolt. that can help with putting them back in and readjustment.
