Cargo lamp wiring question

Post by mjhaltom »

In the same harness as the cargo lamp wiring there is a green wire with a female plug on one end. Is that for the lighted cigarette lighter socket? I bought my cargo lamp assembly off ebay to add to my truck and my truck does not have a lighted cigarette lighter socket.

Does anyone out there have a lighted cigarette lighter socket I can add to my truck? Ranger XLT option I think.

Thanks Fordman. Please let me know on that. So the blue wire you are speaking of is in the same harness as the cargo lamp wiring?

the lighted cigar lighter socket hooks to the two blue with red stripe wires coming to a single female socket for the light on the lighter. the power to the lightwer is blue with a white stripe. this is from a 69 f100 model 81.

Without having one to reference to here, I'd bet that's circuit #54, from the fusebox to the courtesy lamp switch. Look here:

The lighted cigarette lighter socket would get its power from the same wire as the dash lights and heater control light. It is on that same dimmer control...

Here is the diagram that shows the wire that Keith was talking about http://www.fordification.com/images/sch ... ycargo.jpg (E) this shows that this is where the cargo light gets it's power from, the same circuit as the dome / courtesy lights. The only thing is that it should be a male connector on the cargo harness that plugs into the female on the truck harness... :hmm:
