Does anybody know of some diagrams showing what SHOULD be in there to make the horn ring/switch work?
My truck had a switch taped on top of the column, I figure I can fix this properly if I know what it is SUPPOSED to look like
Thanks
PEte

I know the Dennis Carpenter catalog shows all of the parts anyway. Here is a picture from the site that popped up as I was typing a reply.

You should have one of these brass contacts:
..and it should go in here:
That brass contact rides against the ring on the bottom side of the steering wheel:

SUPER PICTURES!
Thanks the detailed photos were exactly what I was looking for.
A while ago I drilled and taped a stud in to the wheel to flip the turn signal release, I'll have this off soon to re-center the wheel, and I'll get a horn contact in at the same time.
THanks
Peter

There are two of those spring/wire pieces. One goes under the steering wheel and makes contact with the bottom of the steering wheel and the other touches the horn ring. When you push on the ring, the center of the ring grounds to the column shaft and sounds the horn.
Most pepole don't know of the second button. There is also one under the steering wheel on the '71 and '72 trucks.
