Installing vent glass rubber

Has anybody done this that can give me a tip or two? Dennis Carpenter's catalog tutorial helped me remove the old, but I need help getting the new rubber ina and getting it to stay in place whaen the window moves. It just is not working at all! Adhesive? Should it be used? If so, What kind?

They are LMC parts. Thanks in advance.

Get thicker seal strips from a glass shop.

Don't use any sealer! I did mine on my 68. Here are a couple of photos.

IIRC, it is called "Glass Setting Tape" and should be available at a automotive glass shop. Is installed between edge of glass and channel to retain and seal glass in channel.

if your just doing the glass. the local glass shop here said 3-4 dollars to install it for me.

Sounds like I need to get some of this setting tape because the rubber come no where near being a tight fit in the channel.

I just did mine with rubbers from LMC and it worked great. Only thing I'm not sure of is the side with the metal that had rivets. Should I just use small screws into the old rivet holes? Thinking about just using some 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive.

i read on here that you have to use rivets to replace the old rivets.

Yuck. I hate rivets. I don't see why a low profile screw wouldn't work just as good. Maybe I'll try a few things before having to go out and get a stupid rivet gun.

So far the vent window seals fit very well without the rivets. Unless I can find really small screws they might be too long. Have to check out the stock at the hardware store. I'm actually thinking of just running a small bead of 3M Weatherstrip Glue and then keeping the window closed for a day. Bet that would hold it just fine. We shall see.
