Got the 71 cleaned up a little after 12+ yrs of sitting

Post by My427stang »

Got it in at the house, going to get it cleaned up and running again. Pulled it in and out on the starter today LOL

I had to wash it today and make sure nothing was living in it before I brought it to the house

I may fire it up this weekend, but its got open headers. My neighbors may not be that excited about that :)

Long term plans are unknown, but currently a Street Dominator, +.040 390, Duraspark, headers, and a 280H cam with only about 10K miles on it.

I may just reseal it after sitting so long, or stroke it, or ???? who knows LOL

Very nice. 12 years of sitting doesn't seem to have harmed it much...that is one clean interior.

As a new guy, been surfing a bunch. I saw some things guys are working that I did on this one in the 80's

I'll take some pictures this weekend, but some things done to this one that may interest you are:

- Conversion to dentside F-150 power steering box
- Swap to later model style tie-rod setup
- Poly c-bushing swap
- Duraspark ignition install
- Frame shortening from longbed to shortbed
- Swap to F-600/school bus shift tower for NP 435 (Higher pivot point, then cut / rebent handle for shorter throw)

If anyone has any questions feel free to fire away
