horn parts missing I think
I also have Grant wheel that came with my 72 F-100. the turn signals didn't work so I bought a new kit . the turn signals cancel just fine now that I installed the two roll pins but there are some parts missing in the column for the horn. I can't tell from my chiltons what the parts are but I know that there is something that should be riding against the copper ring on the wheel adapter and I don't have anything there. any help in finding out what I'm looking for would be appreciated.

yea, there is a little pin with a spring that slides into the plastic part of the blinker assembly. There should be a little tube at about the 1 or 2 o'clock (I think) position inside the column. Inside this tube rides a pin like critter. Mine was shaped kind of like a torpedo about an inch long and the diameter of a ink pen spring. (I know this b/c I replaced my worn out spring with one from an ink pen.) I don't know the proper name for it but yes there is another part. LMC carries something similar I think for 64-70 models and they call it a "horn contact brush assembly" Yours may have popped out onto the floor board or dropped into the column. good luck

thanks for the pictures of the parts that are missing. I knew they were missing, just not what. now I know what to go and look for. I bought the truck from a kid that was not doing it any good. he replaced the stock wheel with a grant, so the parts are long gone. but now thanks to your pictures I can locate what I need to fix her and put her on the road with a horn.

I see how this contact works.
Is there another contact between the horn ring and wheel such that when the ring is pushed, it pushs against the disk which is part of the wheel?
Great photo of the lower area, how about similar for the horn ring/wheel.

yes the three spoke wheels have a horn ring on the inside of the wheel. it also has a cancel ring on the inside of the wheel. if your horn isnt working and you think the wheel is missing pieces the way to check if your horn works or not is to ground that springy button to the steering column nut. if the horn honks then its your steering wheel contacts. if it doesnt then it could lie some place else.
