Can't figure it out

The stupid dome light stopped working. The bulb is good. What should I look at?

fuses door switch any and all wiring connections. possibly a door switch or fuse problem. can you turn the headlight switch and make it work?

No, if I turn the headlight switch to turn it on it still doesn't work.

then they arent getting power i would say. it could be the switch or the fuses.

Robert,

Do you have a voltage meter to verify if there is 12 volts at the light socket? (Could be a bad ground or bulb if you have power there).

Also while you have the bulb out checking for voltage there, look at the grounding on the light assembly itself. (Make sure the light socket is grounded to the cab there).

Go backwards from there to the door switches themselves and check for voltage. (No power at these switches, probably in the headlight switch).

i have the same problem in my 69, but there is no ground wire coming from the bulb there is only one wire tha comes from the socket, and there is no room for another.

some lights are like that they are grounded throught the body of the light.

If you have door jamb switches in a BUMP the switches get their power from the "always hot" green wire with the orange stripe up under the dash. It is a fused hot and MIGHT be fused by the DOME fuse. The dome light through the headlight switch I believe is fed off of a fuse as well. The small fuse in the fuse panel is for the instrument lights only. My fuse panel in my 1968 is labelled. The DOME fuse is bottom left. I can read the teeeenie weeeeenie letters with a flashlight shining on the fuse panel from an angle.

I found this out the hard way and I am sure you have already tried this but........ I replaced the bulb in my heater controls and nothing. The cab light and the heater controls work similarly with respect to the fact that they both have to ground out on the metal of the cab.
I looked around and followed all of the wiring back to the fuse box. Everything seemed good still no light. It was getting dark so I stuck the light socket and bulb back into the hole and bingo light.

same thing happened to me...
my front right blinker on my 71 was very dull, so i investigated the scene by taking out apart the blinker, found nothing, put it back together and it worked great still does too.

I will probably look at it over Christmas break. I have so much crap to do right now for school. Thanks though for all of the ways to check it. I am almost sure though that there is no power getting to the socket at all.
