The park lights have nothing to do with the turn signal switch wires (no connection)

Well... I wouldn't think so, either... but since they use the same bulb, how is it there is no similar connection?

One other possibility is I plugged in an adapter to my trailer lights last night (4-round to 4-flat) but do not have anything plugged into it right now. Could be something crossing in there, I guess... or just the absense of something plugged in? I may have to pull the adapter and see if it stops doing it, or it could get old fast...

The only similar connection in the bulb is the ground connection... There is a separate wire for each element in the bulb, one wire for the park light and another wire for the turn signal light. When you look at the bottom the bulb for the (2) element bulbs there will be (2) connection points on the bottom where as a single element bulb only has one... Then the ground connection is the outside of the socket / bulb.

Yeah, I would check the adaptor plug you got and also check the connection of the Turn Signal Switch wires on the column (maybe got loosened when you were under there for the light switch... Or.... I hate to say could be something going on with the Turn Signal Switch

Turns out the trailer light adapter was the culprit.

( http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... hp?t=27904 )

Nothing was plugged into it, but it was causing my blinkers to stop when my brake was pressed ALL the way in (not half way, but only when it was pressed down all the way). Kinda weird...

I can only figure the wires must be crossed inside the adapter? Dunno... I'll mess with it some more later, I guess. Any ideas as to why an adapter with nothing plugged into it would cause that to happen? I'm thinking maybe the ground was crossed over. I'm going to have to test everything out on my round plug to see what's supposed to be tail/turn/brake/ground.

it coul dbe that some one wired your original socket backwards and the adapter is wired correctly. my brother in law does that to his trucks. he wires them to work how he wants them to work. so if i borrow his trailer i have a special harness i have to use in order to use his wirng on his trailers.

I wouldn't doubt it on this truck... there's some crappy wiring in a few places. In fact, I have a rats nest for the radio/speaker/former CB that hangs down from under my dash. I just haven't taken the time to cut it out and pull out the stuff that doesn't serve any purpose.

It might also be this adapter... it was a REALLY tight fit, and the contacts may not have been very good. Not sure how to get around that, as I can't make the holes and receivers on the adapter any bigger. Tomorrow I'll "map out" which pole on the socket does what, then see how that corresponds to the adapter and the hitch light. Then I can hopefully re-wire the adapter as necessary. At least, I hope it's that simple...

OK... so the socket was wired wrong... or at least, not to what appears "standard". I re-wired the adapter, but that dang adapter simply will NOT fit the poles... I've pushed and pushed... tried making them bigger... no luck. Not sure what the deal is, other than the poles appear to be flared a little. Maybe just bent up with age or something.

BUT... I don't really have any need for a 4-way round adapter, so I'm going to just clip it underneath, take the pigtail from the new 4-flat adapter, and wire it up. Hopefully that will = problem-solved.

I finally replaced my parking lamp lenses a while back, too. Here are a couple of pix of the lights after adding the jumper, for those wondering how this looks on the '67s. I like it, personally... it's a nice upgrade, and provides a "marker" light should I ever lose a headlight.

I don't know why the 2nd picture was so shaky... :dk:

yep. considering the location of the park lights on our trucks, relative to the headlight, it's easier to see a smaller light go on/off, as opposed to Bright/dim

yeah... I tested 'em out once I installed the jumper. I found the turn signal to still be noticeable enough that I decided to leave it that way. I think in '68 or '69 they wired them that way, anyhow... this is a 67 "fix" which I think improves safety a bit.
