When i was out at my dads this week end i went to take the instrument cluster out it would come out it was like it was caught on some thing.
Do i have to reach up behind the dash and remove the speedometer cable
or did i just miss something? Its kinda hard to reach up behind or even behind the cluster because of my broken wrist.
Just wanted some advice on how to remove the cluster so i can put the overlays and leds in.
Thanx

Hey Steve...
Yes, unfortunately, after you get the screws out, the gauge cluster will come forward just a little to take the speedo cable off...
You also have to undo the cluster connector...
They are each a little differant depending the year, but all pretty basic.

It probably is the speedometer cable hanging things up. I have pulled it out with the cable still attached, but it comes out much easier if you reach up and unhook the speedometer cable first. That is going to be tough if you have a cast on your wrist though. ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

re: instrument console removel
I just took mine off yesterday to put a new turn signal flasher in. The speedo cable does have to be disconnected. I found it easier to reach behind from the left side of the dash to unscrew the cable. Also, it helped to remove the metal piece that goes over the top of the steering column. I had to take the two bolts out that held the steering column up to get it off. It was much easier to reconnect the cable once I did this. It was easier to reconnect the speedo cable by reaching in from the right side of the dash. Hope it helps.
