What color?

Post by Finleyphoto »

What color were the steering columns and wheels in a bone stock '67 F-100?

What determined what color the columns were painted in the fancier trucks?

It's been my experience that if the truck was black, blue, green or red, the dashpad and steering column were that color. All other truck colors had a black dashpad and column. However, my truck was originally white, and it did have a white 3-spd column...the only white columns I've ever seen have been on '67s and '68s.

I've seen 'em on the '67's in red and green, but mostly white.

Mine is black in a white truck with blue dashpad and *elbow rests*

The other white '67 I just bought for parts has a white column.

No, they are usually listed at the bottom of the paint chip cards for interior colors.

My 68 Custom Cab had a rangoon red interior. The former owner replaced the column and its black. Fair assumption that the original column was painted rangoon red then?

custom cabs could have been black. i think it depened on the package of the truck. the more deluxe a model the more added options such as ranger always had a same color column as the rest of the interior.

Thanks. I'm guessing it may have been the rangoon red because the dash pad is maroon.

My steering column and wheel were medium blue to match the rest of the interior. The truck was "frost turquoise". However, it'll be going black on the interior, mainly out of convenience and expense to me. Replicating and finding blue stuff that matches is just way too hard...

Interesting. My 68 f100 truck is Ragoon Red as stated on the VIN but the steering column and wheel are Bone. Dash is Black.

My VIN is blank on the spot that identifies the interior color. Has anyone else run into a blank for the interior color?

thx,
Eric
