Actually these wheels are 17x7. I have a couple 17x8's, but I haven't decided whether I want to put bigger tires on the back or just keep them all the same. They don't come in a 5x5.5" lug pattern (factory for the truck), so I used some adapters to put the 5x4.5" lug pattern wheels on it. They make the wheels stick out an inch more than they would otherwise. I bought adapters that are made from billit aluminum to be sure they were strong enough for the truck.

I just used regular paint stripper that you can get from the hardware store. I bought the strongest stuff from the Klean-Strip brand, which was thier KS-3 Premium Stripper. It took a few applications and some scrubbing with a toothbrush to get it all off. Carb cleaner worked real well too, but it would have taken a lot! I've used this stuff on aluminum wheels before, when the clear coat got all hazy, and after removing the bad clear they looked awesome.

I have those same pieces cut out of a grill I have. They cut them out to mount a grill guard. Probably why the rest of the grill is so nice. My grill is steel, so it is going to be a little easier to weld in the missing pieces.
