missing many lights inside
It's me again...
so my truck drives and stops.(latter is definitely a plus) I'm on to my next issue(s)
1: headlights and parking/tail lights all work
2: dome works- high beam indicator works
3: no turns inside or out light. instrument lights no work.
4: idiot lights light at start go off normally.(working properly i assume)
i replaced 1 flasher so far it was taped to my brakelight switch wire to keep from flopping around i guess.i gather from reading and diagrams this is my emergency flasher.
I am about to go poking wires from the headlight switch is the the first place to look? I would at least like to get the dash lights going since i drive home from work after dark and i can't see speedo. presently i'm using universal turn signals or left hand
oh and my brake lights didn't work either but i couldn't get switch back on when i installed new master and pushrod, what i mean is they didnt work prior to replacing master with switch installed.
one other thing i will try to take a photo, there is a big box under dash(relay) it is about 3x3 with 2 terminals offset. i will post a pic if i can take one and the numbers i can read, my head is a little big to get too far in there.
any help will be greatly appreciated.

Check dash (instrument) light bulbs and the fuse for the dash lights.
Check grounds and all turn signal bulbs and their sockets.
All the blinking lights go through the turn signal switch. Do your emergency flashers work? If not, I would suspect the turn signal switch based on what you have said.
You need to fix the brake light switch before anything.

David,
With that much stuff not working I would make the brake lights a priority first!
For the brake lights...
Do you have a voltage meter or test light?
1) Start by testing all the fuses under the drivers side dash.
2) Confirm you have power to the brake light switch.
3) Confirm you have power leaving the brake light switch, (after it's been re-mounted).
4) Confirm you have power to the rear brake light sockets, (and test the bulbs themselves).
I've skipped the troubleshooting of the turn signal switch, (which I'm gonna guess might be the problem with the turn signals).
What model and year bump?
Sounds like you might have more than one bulb blown too, (I'd test the front turn signal bulbs too).

re: missing many lights inside
The headlight switch will only be for the headlights, park lights (driving lights) and dash lights... the Turn, Emergency, and Brake lights all go through the turn signal switch as the guys mentioned above...I am about to go poking wires from the headlight switch is the the first place to look? I would at least like to get the dash lights going
For the dash lights check the fuse... the power for them comes from the light switch and then goes to the fuse box and then out to the dash lights... if the fuse is good check that power is getting to / out of it. If no power then the light switch could be bad try adjusting the dimmer on it a couple of times to see if it is corroded up...
On the turn signals / brake lights... check to make sure that the wire harness on the steering column is plugged in. If the Emergency flashers work then check the (turn signal flasher) it is mounted on the back side of the instrument panel and looks just like the one you replace for the Emergency flashers...
Let us know what year Bump you have and we can point you in the right direction for wires to test.
Have to see pics of the mystery box under there, which side of the dash is it on?

Here is the digram on the dash lights http://www.fordification.com/images/sch ... lights.jpg the dome light is not on the same wire as the dash lights. The power for the dash lights comes from the switch via (19) to the fuse panel and then after the fuse via (19A) to the dash, so you can test those wires with the lights on.
Oh, the lights up front ( and rear for that mater) are dual element so the park lights are seperate from the turn (/Brake out back) lights on the same bulb...

re: missing many lights inside
Ha! while poking about with tester i moved dash light fuse, and got lights there.
I do have one question tho. I was poking around the fuse box, should my tester have lit up anywhere? I got it to light on the dome fuse. but none of the others lit it up even with key on.
i'm thinking i must remove fuse block from the firewall, and break out the old dremel with a wire brush to clean connections up a bit.

re: missing many lights inside
I thought so, i was trying to find out if i had power to the column wiring. I wasn't finding any in the wires at the switch, tried at the fusebox side of the connector, and nothing!
all i need to get working now are the blinkers, and get my brakelight switch re-installed. hopefully brushing the contacts on fusebox will remedy that problem.

I noticed some time ago that if I take a flashlight to the edge of where the fuses are sitting in the fuse box there are little letters at each fuse that say what they supply power to. Is it all of the "key on" fuses that don't have power on the harness end of the fuses?
If so, wiggle the key in the ignition switch as you are testing these fuses with the switch in the on (but not started) position. See if the test light flashes. If it does the ignition switch, not the key switch but the rear part of the switch that the key switch goes into that may be worn or bad. The ignition switch plugs into the wiring harness.
The '68 donor truck I have here had that problem when I was trying to get it started in the former owner's yard in Jacksonville Florida.

Necessity...the mother of invention!By the time i get this truck right i'll know a thing or two!
It's how I learned most of my truck stuff!
You might want to look at the backside of the fuse block , (especially where the main "hot wire" is tied into it).
This is where/when I got my username and state issued license plate some 16 years ago...
Took a complete basketcase 76' bronco and did a "ground-up/frame-off" restoration. The wiring was the worse part!

The box i mentioned in first post is like the one on Keith's 67 f250, shown when he first got it. here is linky http://www.fordification.com/images/67- ... ping02.jpg
I am pretty sure mine is no camper special tho, just a plain base model.
anyway just thought i'd add that, see if anyone knows what it is for.

That picture looks like a relay or a circuit breaker of some type. Does it have power on both terminals? With, or without the key on?

Mine has no wires connected to it, so I haven't checked for voltage. I was just curious as to its function.

Look at the pic you posted and see if you can find those same colored wires under the dash in the area of the relay / circuit breaker in your truck. It isn't like Ford to install a part like this in a vehicle if it didn't have a use for it.
Again, until someone else sheds some light on what this is. both you and I won't know.
