Had that trouble with mine. Ended up being the sockets bad. The ground wire was losing contact inside the socket. Fxied it the affordable way with two new aftermarket sockets engineered into my old housings. I figure that is OK until I decide to bitethe bullet and buy new turn signal housings. But, I have had no trouble that way for over a year now.

No, iv'e been all over this site reading everything about elec issues on these old trucks. Theme seems to be grounds. I hope no one jacked with the wiring on my truck. That can be a real problem to figure out.
Im just getting started on this truck so i may solve this problem down the road while fixing or replacing something else.
I just don't think it's the wiring. This was a one owner truck and i know the owner. When he repaired somthing he done it right. Truck has 140,000 orig miles on it. I'll figure it out sooner or later.

Update to all! I solved my elec problem! Let me start out by saying i feel like a real DA. In an earlier thread on a different topic w/ fordman we were talking about the front valance and park light housing.
I had mentioned that i couldn't get drivers side park light lens off due to a bent bumper you could just bareley see edge of bulb w/ lens loose. I started tracing plugs as thunderfoot had suggested w/ the marked diagram he sent me.
Well i traced it to that frontleft park light. took off the bumper so i could get that lens off and found a 1156 bulb in a 1157 socket.

I guess it was feeding power back thru the system. Any way thanks to all for the help! Sorry for the long thread just excited this problem is solved. Now my bump is insp sticker ready.

hey glad you found the problem. Thanks for letting us know the problem. I'll try to remember that if I ever have problems like that in the future. Don't you hate those irritating little problems like that.

Never hurts to know a little more about your truck. The small problems are always the most annoying to figure out.

Hey, glad you got it and that is all it was! :) learning is alway good no matter how you're taught   Heck, I learned something new to remember from what you found out with the wrong bulb.
