Discontinued heater core
Does anybody know where I can find a heater core for a factory a/c unit. Every parts store or company like 4 seasons has discontinued as of October of '06 . Btw i have been a quiet member of this website, I like to thank Keith for a great and informational website.

look at rockauto.com
i fnot i know they can be had. it is just finding who sales them. my dad runs a radiator shop and he can get them for sure. i keep forgetting the link to who he gets his radiator stuff from but they have it listed. and you can alos remove the tubes from your old one and solder them to a new one that is for the heat only type of core.

I know how you feel, here is a link to the thread.

Ranger, if you can't have it redone or find one in a few let me know. I just finished adapting another ford heater core thats close. And believe me you will never figure it out wich auto its in unless you do a lot of research. There will be some cutting involved, I'll tell you that up front. But its just where the tubes come out the bottom, they are a touch closer together than the orginal. A few slight other things that are easier than that, I hope you won't need the rest of the info and can have yours redone. I would have loved to had mine done, but it was too far gone to save. Let me know if you exhaust all other ways, but please make it a last resort.

Thanks for the info. NPD and DC carry the core for standard heaters like most parts houses. My core is beyond recoreing, it expanded then exploded for some reason. i might have to take you up on your offer fordtk on another core substitute. For now, I changed it overt o the regular heater. Trucks got to roll in the morning !!!!!!!!!!

Have you checked Napa online or your local Napa store?? Napa gets it's radiators and heater cores from the company that used to carry the name Modine. I went to my cellphone to retrieve the name because we have a ProLiance store here in Ocala that I have bought several classic Ford replacement radiators from and the heater cores I got for a few of my other Classic Fords and Mercurys came from Napa and were ProLiance heater cores. ProLiance is the company that merged with Modine.
(edit) I called one of the guys at Napa on my way home tonight. He said the part number he has in his database is still a good number and he is going to call his supplier tomorrow and call me back. I figure I will buy one if they can still get them (with what I see here) since the heater core in the '69 Ranger I have here in the yard is disconnected. Even if I transfer the a/c unit into my '68 Daily Driver I will have a new heater core in it.
If my Napa guy can get it I will update you tomorrow night (if you haven't found one yet).

Nope, that part number showed it was a good part number. When they called they were told it is obsolete also and are going to be trying to update their computer.

Well, I called CarQuest, AdvanceDiscount and AutoZone tonight. I thought I was going to get one at CarQuest. The lady said I can get it..... ....and when I asked her how long it would take she went in too check all stock and then corrected herself and apologized to me. Funny thing, she actually gave me a price though. It was somewhere around $45.00 to $49.00, if it had still been available.

why does everyone want tio hide thier places of geting these. that is stupid. or are those of you that are hiding this info tring to sell commercially? both of you guys need to spill it for future forum memebers. i have yet to get dad to look up his source yet. when i do everyone will know. why am i complaining. because i am tierd of reading a thread that no one will take advise from. right chris. recore it if you cant find it. recoring is the simplest fastest easiest way to do it. they are the same core but with different tubes. gee.
