A/c unit power and pulley bearings

Post by r71f250 »

I have a 1971 F250 with the original A/C. Its in perfect condition, but seems like it has no power going to it. Blower will not go on and the knob when turned to on A/C does nothing.

Question is there a seperate fuse aside of the fuse block like a fuseable link or in line fuse. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated..

Also the 2 tensioners for the a/c belt has pressed in bearings and the bearings are bad. I removed them and LMC does not list replacements and I do not know where to start to find these? any advice?

Blessings,

I have a was a dealer installed unit - power was fed off the accessory lead in the harness and off of a direct run to the fuse box. Of course from the cab unit there is a lead running to the compressor to engage clutch. And make sure ground is adequately made.

These guys sell mounting hardware and the idler (I've never dealt with them tho) http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/ Let us know if you talk to them!
Have you tried the local auto parts stores for the bearings? Somebody should be able to find a match if you can provide the bearing dimensions.

A company that used to sell bearings of all kinds was Miller Bearings. I'm not sure if they are still in business or not, but I believe they were a national company, but I'm not sure.

The bearings usually have numbers on them (some of them I have seen have been on the sides). Like Nausea said, some auto parts stores can cross-reference bearings from the numbers on them (or application if they have the paper catalogs).
