Will Ranchero rearview mirror work on a bump?
I found this mirror on eBay.....it looks a lot like a '67 bump mirror, but I can't be certain. Can anyone offer any advice, as to whether this will fit my '68 bump? (If not, anyone know where I can get a '67 bump rearview setup?).

A 1968 takes a mirror that has a "button" that holds the mirror, but glues to the windshield.
I will take a picture of the one I have sitting on the floor of my '68 and post it in a few minutes.

re: Will Ranchero rearview mirror work on a bump?
Maybe I should have mentioned, I'd like to adapt a '67-style to my '68 (I've never liked the glued-on mirrors, they tend to fall off in the Mojave).

Have you tried to glue the mirror to the windshield with something other than rear-view mirror adhesive? Something like two-part epoxy?
I'm not sure if the '67 had a different hole pattern than the plastic '68-type visor holder does. See if you can get someone that has a '67 AND a '68-'72 to remove the visor holder in their later Bump and see if the rear-view mirror in the '67 matches up to the hole pattern in the roof of the newer Bump. I would also ask that person if the mirror bracket has a C7T (truck) casting number in it or something else like a Fairlane/Ranchero (C7O) or a Falcon (C7D) or another casting number in it. If the '67 truck mirror bracket has the truck casting number in it I would say the Ranchero mirror won't work, unless the seller will send you the casting number in the mirror bracket he or she is selling and the two are the same.
I've probably completely baffled you by now. I look in all kinds of old Fords for parts for all of my classics because Ford interchanged so many things between so many vehicles back then.

A car-type rear-view mirror bracket might make the mirror sit too high, or up on a real bad angle as compared to a truck rear-view mirror bracket. Hopefully someone will help you out with this.

re: Will Ranchero rearview mirror work on a bump?
I put a '67 rear view mirror in my '69.
I took out visor clip/plastic piece, and screwed in the '67 mirror no problem.
I got sick of adj. my mirror in the winter and having it come off in my hand
Not sure about the Ranchero mirror??? Might be a different mounting angle or something.

The only thing I notice from the pictures, my 67 mirror mounting base has a concave curve to it, the Ranchero base looks flatter.

re: Will Ranchero rearview mirror work on a bump?
Upon closer inspection (and suggestions from my fellow FordFans), I don't think it will work. The Ranchero bracket does indeed appear to be too "flat", whereas our cabs (or at least my '68 cab, and I presume they're all pretty much the same) have only the "lip" (app 1-1/4 wide) where the visors mount. I'm kicking myself for not grabbing a mirror I saw in a junker a couple of months ago......no worries, it's not a must-have, and I'm sure another one will turn up eventually.
