My 1967 F100
We set out to get my new bump this morning at 8:00 AM. I meet up with my friend from work Scott and his son Andrew who also works with us. Scott has a car hauler and a Dodge 3500 turbo diesel to pull it (I finally found the one good use for these $40,000 Dodge trucks, picking up bumps). We met up with Dustin the friend of the owner of the truck at 8:30 and he got us onto Sub Base Bangor (trident missile submarine base). The owner is left for his new duty station yesterday. We finally got to the truck and Dustin forgot the keys to the bump at home. He went home to get the keys and I swapped out the battery and started putting air back into the flat tire with a 12 volt air pump. Dustin came back 25 minutes later with the door/ignition key and we had the tire filled up. There was no key for the locking gas cap! I took out my keys for my 68 and the locking gas cap key actually worked. I put 5 gallons of fresh gas in the truck and tried to start it. I think that I blew the inside of the muffler all over the parking lot. There was a nice spray of black chunks behind the truck. I also found out that the truck is dual exhaust. The passenger side exhaust exits behind the rear tire and the drivers side stops under the truck by the rear bumper. I finally got it to start but the truck is missing like a mother. I am not sure if the PO screwed up the firing order or the timing. He said he had changed the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires just before the tranny crapped out in this parking lot. He made it about two blocks. We decided to push the truck up to the trailer and use the come along to pull it onto the trailer. I got the truck home and backed into the driveway. Here are the pictures that I have taken so far.
I forgot to mention that the $200 truck comes with a parts truck. Its a 67 F250 that the front clip has been removed. The doors (which I grabbed), hood, front inner fenders ((?) (the piece that the hood hinges are attached to)), radiator, beat up dash pad and front fender (I don't remember which one). I am going for the Hood, knobs and switches, seat, NPD-435 tranny and the 4.10 Dana 60 rear end. The only problem with the parts truck is that it is also on base and it's kind of a free for all since it has been sitting for so long. If someone needs something let me know. When I go back I will post pictures on this link.
The picture doesn't show it but the rubber mat looks new.
It looks like I am in for dome light number 2

The body doesn't look too bad... from the pics it looks like just surface rust.
Good buy!

I don't know if the PO replaced the timing chain itself or just the gasket. He said there was an oil leak so he replaced all the gaskets he could short of rebuilding it. I am going to mess with it today since it is not raining.

re: My 1967 F100
I thought the PO might have miss wired the plugs but they were correct. The timing was way off. I am guessing 7-8 degrees at least (like how I say that like I know what I am talking about ). I turned the dist clockwise. I don't know if that is advancing or retarding but it fixed it. I noticed that the carb is leaking pretty bad out of the fuel inlet. I hosed off the intake manifold to get rid of the 2-3 cups of gas on it.

I also got an extra surprise in the glove box. It might be useful if I had any idea how to use it. I am going to have to ask one of the service techs at the shop for a lesson.
Sorry the picture is so crappy I tried to get a 3 megapixel picture so it would load faster.
