power accesories

Post by THATCH »

whats the best way to power my accessories, such as elec fuel pump and fan. can i run them right from the "key on" side of the starter solenoid? i ordered a white rodgers power solenoid (70-111224-5), anyone ever switched to one of these.

thanks

You will want to use a relays using the battery power, you can use the ignition wire for the trigger source to "activate the relays"
The wire on the solenoid is for activating the starter, and the other is for boosting the voltage to the coil when starting (you could probably use this for the trigger wire for the relays as it is connected to the coil wire)

If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...

a good option is to install a constant duty solinoid to use as a relay then you wont be pulling all that power through your ignition switch if you try to use a starter solinoid it won't handle being on all the time
