Hey Guys...
Just a brief update on the '68 CS project.
I literally worked on stuff for the CS projest until I was black and blue...
Satin black and Ford blue to be more specific...
Spent a couple of hours cleaning up the '71 rad support...
Unfortunately, the "surface rust" was a little worse that I thought before I got it cleaned up with a wire wheel.
There are a couple of rust through's that wern't appearant until I go it cleaned up. There is some pretty bad pitting where the inner fender meets the support. (especially on the passenger side... go figure)
I got some stuff that is supposed to dissolve the rust completely, I'm gonna us some of that to really give it a good cleaning, then wash it down with laquer thinner and treat the area with Eastwood rust encapsulator.
Then, I am gonna use some of the fiberglass impregnated bondo to fill the holes and build the area back up where the rust has eaten it away.
Then I'll give the whole support a coat of Eastwood rust encapsulator before installing it.
It is mostly on the inner side so the patch part would be inside the fender well and painted so it won't be seen.
Since I am really only doing a functional resto w/a few upgrades it should last me at least another 20 years...
I know some of the purests would frown on the patch work, but I am mainly restoring it to put back to work hauling my camper around until I can get Olde Skool gone thru and converted to an RV...
Then who knows...
Sorry no pics this time... my camera went blind...
Everything else works, it just can't see anymore...
It's been acting up for a little while now.
Sometimes the sensor would work and let me take pics other times it wouldn't, so I decided to replace it with an upgrade.
I just bought a new Canon A560 (7.1 mp's instead of 3.2)
on e-bay, but it hasn't arrived yet.
(I got it for about half of what I could have gotten the same one at Circuit City for and it. it is brand new in the box and comes with the full manufacturer's warrenty)
When I get it, I'll be sure to take some pics to fill in the gaps...
I also got an additional 3 gigs of memory coming for it as well...

I've got a Canon powershot A40 I've had for almost 6 years now, and it still works quite well. Can't quite seem to kill it.
But, the 2.0 megapixel is getting really old, and the "hold for 3 seconds before you shoot" sucks. Even on manual it still takes a second or two before it snaps the picture.
I'm really debating the new Canon Digital SLR this summer.

Hey Guys,
Sorry about the mis-spelling, it only really be called that color if it was used on a chebby... spelling now edited and correction made.
Wow... my new camera came today... that was ultra quick.
The 1 gig memory memory card arrived today as well.
The first pics I took were of the stuff that got done sat...
I like it... I like it alot.
Radiator support cancer
Close up of radiator support cancer
More parts cleaned and painted
Finished cleaning radiator support with the wire wheel
Gotta take the time to clean up my work bench
Hey Paul,
My first "real" digital camera was a Canon A40... I killed it...
I was at one of the SCA medieval events I go to all the time and left it out on the picnic table over night... They don't like moisture at all.
Luckily, I didn't lose any of the pics I'd taken.
I replaced it with the A75, that went blind.
Now I've got the A560. I really like the larger 2.5 inch screen, that's the very first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box.
I'll let the pics speak for themselves...

Lookin good Kaptn. I don't think anybody is gonna frown on patching your rad support. The parts for our trucks are getting harder to find and unless somebody can afford climate controlled storage most of us will one day be in the same boat.
Besides, anyone can change parts, repairing them takes skill and patience.

Thanks AC...
The orginal rad support was lot worse.
This one came outta the '71 CS I parted out last summer.
I was thinkin' about getting another support from a dent but fixin' this one is a whole lot easier.
It really isn't that bad... the pocked area looks far worse in the pic than it really is.
It's the same way on the other side...
the largest whole is is probably 3/8" long and 3/16's wide at most.
