re: what the? turn signal/park light
The new one did have the same color coding, all of them matched up. My four ways work inside and outside of the truck. I checked the connection right on the outside of the fire wall also that goes back to the tail lights. Everything that worked also worked at this point in the harness. No signals so what ever it is is happening inside the cab.
That should have isolated it to something in the cab. I replaced the flashers with the ones from my donor also. Still a no go. Thanks for the help.

Bob, go back to your turn signal switch and hook your test light to a power source. It switches the ground not the power wire. The flasher for the turn signals should have power on one side with the key on.Rjames wrote:I have checked the grounds on the rear tail lights, at least I think that I have. I disconnected the rear tail grounds and the parking lights went out.
I just tried the signal switch out of my donor truck and it did not work either.
As for the schematics, I cannot make heads nor tails of it. It seems to me that there should be power to the column harness, when the lever is actuated, it should send power to another wire in the harness to activate the right or left signal, I cannot see any power other than the blue #2 wire in the switch harness.
The wiring to the rear tail lights and front lights looks intact and all connectors seem connected and in decent shape.
I think that I may be running out of "figure it out" because I have no idea what other grounds to check.
thanks for your input.

Re: re: what the? turn signal/park light
if it is working outside the firewall why do you think its not working in the cab? the wiring comes from the cab. so if it works on the outside of the firewall your trouble is outside the cab.Rjames wrote:The new one did have the same color coding, all of them matched up. Here's something else to try.Go to the flasher that does not have any power.Look at the color of the wires. One of these should match up to one of the wires on the switch connecter.Take a jumper wire and put power to the other terminal on the flasher.Your signals should work.

You're getting closer The next thing I'd do is swap the fuse out.It may be corroded. If that doesn't solve it then the next thing would be to unbolt the fuse block.Turn it over and look at the wires behind the t/s fuse. They may also be corroded.A wire that is corroded or damaged may only have one or two strands of wire to make the connection. While a strand or two is enough to power a test light they can't handle any more load.Rjames wrote:I would guess that means that the flasher is not getting power for some reason. Any ideas?

re: what the? turn signal/park light
Let's isolate it a bit further. Pull the fuse.See which side has power. Now put the fuse back in.Repeat the jumper wire test using the fuse as your power source.First connect to the side of the fuse that didn't have power in the pull the fuse test.If the signals work the problem is the wire between the fuse and flasher. If they don't work move the jumper to the other side of the fuse.If they still don't work the problem is in the wiring supplying the fuse.
