Harness question ???

Post by kaptnkaos »

Hey Guys...

What's the differance bwteen a '68 and a '71 passenger side under the hood harness?
The one on the '68 was butchered pretty badly to install a second battery charging system... the '71 harness is unmolested...

Thanks in advance...

I think the blinker/runner lights wires are diff location.

also if from a dummy light equipes truck it will be missing the shunt that feeds the voltage guage. if from a full indtrumentation truck it will have it but not need it if going into a dummy light equiped truck.
I think thats about it.

The '71 turn signal light is different, so the harness connector will be also, but your light circuits on that side shouldn't have been touched if the previous owner was just messing with the charging circuits. As long as the donor truck has the same style of dash instrumentation, the harness should interchange.

Hey guys...

I got to lookin' at it closer with the tape removed...
They spliced into the black wire that goes from the cylinoid to the alternator...
The black wire is twice as long as in needs to so it was doubled back and spliced with huge wire nuts and taped up...
You can just barely see where the wire coming from the alternator junctions into the black nodual (for lack of knowning what else to call it).
I'll try to get a better pic of that set up tomorrow...
