Reverse and neutral switches

Post by Joshpow »

I swapped to a 78/9 tilt column. I need to know what I need to put the reverse light and neutral safety switches on my c4 transmision. Are the brackets made to the switches or are they separate? Does my 72 c4 have the holes there to mount the switches? Any help would be great.

isnt it on the column. if not isnt there a place for it on the column. if there is a place for the switch on the column put it on there. the older transmissions such as the c4 might not have the proper mounting fro that newer style switch.

Check out this thread this was discussed some there. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... ht=neutral
I would think that the case should have the hole or be able to put it in there as my 68 Mustang with a C4 came with the switch on the trans factory...

Josh,

The later dents have both the nuetral safety switch and back-up light switch incorporated into one switch.
This one switch mounts over the selector shaft on the tranny and is held onto the tranny case with two screws.
Although I don't know if your 72 C-4 tranny will have these two holes?
Here's an image of the switch:

Although the price these seems a little high...
These are adjustable, (and very dependable IMO).

I have two holes that look right to me. I guess I'll buy a switch and see if it will work. I don't know of any alternatives other than toggle switches that I don't want. Do you guys?
