I give up. :|

Post by 1970CamperRanger »

Alright, I've had enough, does anyone know where I can find a wiring harness, or kit of some kind, for a 1970 F250 Camper Special, I really don't want to get one at the junk yard, and I was in a little over my head trying to put one together myself.
She's an ugly old beast, but 'ol Red'll get ya where you're goin.

Even with one of the aftermarket harnesses, there is still some work involved, it's not going to be a plug-n-play affair. Not trying to be a downer, just letting you know ahead of time. 8)

What kind of problems are you having? I have been away from the computer for about a month or so. Have you been soliciting help with your truck wiring problems up 'til today?

I wouldn't hesitate to use a wrecking yard harness myself. It's no different than buying a parts truck and pulling the wiring out of the parts truck to use it.

I'm going to do this with a 1969 Ranger I have here because I want full instrumentation in my 1968 because I am adding a real nice F700 instrument panel I found in the wrecking yard today.

I'd be sure the wiring comes out of the same year truck as yours, if possible, or the closest match as possible. Taking a few printed pages to the wrecking yard from the data-tag decoder section on this site and reading the door data tags would help with the identification of the year of the truck(s) you find there. I would recommend a good once-over for splices or repairs to a wrecking yard harness after it is removed before you buy it, and then be sure the truck it comes out of has the same instrumentation your truck has (i.e. all four gauges, or two idiot lights in the dash). I believe the Camper Special stuff is just add-on (plug-in extra) harnesses that Ford adds to standard wiring harnesses, but I am not sure.
Too many projects, too little time, but.. lovin' it!
