Yes, the spedometer cable is back there, and if I rebember right there is two plugs. The spedometer cable is the probobly the one holding it up that far, I can't remember but I think it should unscrew by hand.
Someone with more knowledge should be by shortly and will be of more help I am sure.

Yea its the spedo cable!! Have to get to that from under the dash! and then you shud have a lot more room to pull it out and then take off the plugs! I have a 71 but there still can't be that big of a diff in mine and yours!TheEskimo wrote:Yes, the spedometer cable is back there, and if I rebember right there is two plugs. Hey LUVMY69FORD250RANGER
The speedo cable should pull out a couple of inches..
You might have to feed it back from under the hood, but it will come out far enough to get yer hand back there to unscrew it...
Here's a little hint top make it a little easier...
remove the two bolts that hold the steering column to the dash...
that let sthe column drop a little bit... it's so much easier to get the panel in and out that way... besides you won't scratch the paint on yer column...
I just installed a freshly painted column in my '68 CS, I scratched the heck out of the top reinstalling the panel... so that's the voice of experience talkin'... takin' 2 seconds to remove those two bolts would have saved me a lot of trouble...
Now, I'm gonna haveta repaint it...
