dash light question
My dash lights seem dim and yellow, they didn't come from the factory like that, did they? My guess is that I need to change the light switch.

re: dash light question
Hi Kurt,
This may be a silly question, but is it possible that you have the dimmer turned down? The dash lights weren't overly bright from the factory, but with the dimmer turned up all the way they should be a nice, fairly bright, white light.
Regardless, if they are dim and yellow, something is dropping the voltage to them. Whether its the dimmer turned down, or a bad headlight switch, or a bad ground, or low system voltage, or a bad connection somewhere, or someone put the wrong lamps in at some time, etc ...

re: dash light question
New bulbs six months ago, battery is well charged, light did improve some when I rotated the switch back and forth and turn it on high, but not as good as I would like. My guess is the contact in the switch is dirty from age. A new switch would be a good place to start. I will also check battery cables and for a ground wire to the engine.

re: dash light question
Kurt,
A few companies make an LED replacement for our dash light bulbs, makes one heck of a difference!
A few of the guys here on Fordification have done this, (looks really awesome IMO).
Hopefully they'll chime in with the source and model of the bulb.
Jeff

re: dash light question
My lens had turned yellow from age, it was hard to read the gauges and at night they were completely worthless. I got those white gauge inserts and that helped some. Then I replaced the lens and with the new lens and the white gauges they made a world of difference.
Pics are kind of fuzzy, sorry:

I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.
