Hey fomocoguy

I'm sure you're right on that...
After the rubber has had a chance to warm up and relax it will lay flatter.
You could probably speed up the process with a heat gun.
(that's what I would do)
Heat guns get really hot so I'd use the wide attachment to distribute the heat...
If you don't have a heat gun, you could use a hair dryer.
I can't imagine not having a heat gun in my tool arsenal...
I use mine all the time... mostly for electrical work.
I don't like using crimp connectors, but when I do use them, I strip the plastic stuff off of them first.
You can get a much better connection that way. Then I use shrink tubbing to cover the connection with at least 1/2 -3/4 extra on each side.
I have had standard crimp connectors fail on me before, but I have not had my method fail yet.

The heat gun was the first thing I tried, but it didn't do a whole lot of good. It made it more pliable for sure, but it still wouldn't stay down where it needs to. I'll give it till the end of summer; I'll probably have carpet installed by then anyways.

Cool...

That's a good thing to know...
I wanna order a stock style rubber floor-mat for my '68 CS.
With the current project I had to remove the original one, it decentigraded trying to get it out.
Here in the Northwest, there is no way I would have carpet in my truck.
My Caravan has carpet and it is a real PITB to try and keep it half way clean.
I mostly use my truck for camping so I like the option of letting the mud dry and sweep it out, then give it a wash job with soap and water...
when yer done it looks good as new... try doin' that with carpet... :D

It's just the opposite for me. The truck stays garaged, and it will probaly rarely see any rain, let alone dirt. I've got a Cherokee that sees camping and off road duty, and I've got a crummy old trailer that does the heavier hauling behind it. The truck is gonna be more of a hot rod than a laborer. Now if it were a long bed and a 3/4 ton that would be a different story! I wish I had more room and $$$ cuz 'd probably try to find one...

Just wate tell its in the summer and 100 outside it will lay down just fine! Its the same way with carpet, Better to lay it in the sun all day then put it in the truck.
