Hotwire how-to needed

I wil be picking up a parts truck ina week or so. It has no keys. The owner says that it was runing a year or so ago. I'm thinking that it would be easier to drive it on the trailer than winch it. I have a battery I can bring with me. What would I have to do to try to start it without a key?

The easy way is to jump the the starter solenoid. Take it out of gear first.

Don't I have to get the ignition to the "run" position?

Put power to the power side of the coil.

Make up a jumper wire run it from the pos side of the battery to the pos side of the coil and jump the solenoid.

Or

If you have another switch you could use that.

Or

Put the wires out of the back of the switch and find which ones that you could jump to get it to trun over and have power going to the coil.

for just loading i would just swap out your switch with the other switch.

easiest to jump it. run a jumper wire from the battery to the positive side of coil and jump the starter solenoid

Seems you came to the right place to learn how to hot-wire a vehicle.

Actually I done mine a while back with the batt. to coil route when I lost my keys. But if it's yours and you're going to have to change it anyway, why not go ahead and change it first. Then you can drive it on and off without raising the hood. Just my

This truck is gonna be junked. I'm not gonna take the time to put a new switch in it.

Then the jumper will be easiest and quickest.

just wondering,
cant you get your switch or some junk switch that at least works, then unplug the parts trucks switch (if you can) or splice your switch in (presuming you had the key for it) ?

You dont have to install the switch, just unplug the one in the dash, and plug yours in long enough to make it work. It can dangle all over the place and will work just fine, and it's easy enough to remove afterwards.

this thread kind of bothers me. i dont think we should talk about how to hot wire our trucks in the open like this. i know most thieves will probably already know how to do this but wouldn't it be better to keep this in a pm situation. or maybe make this subject a registered user onyl thing? just like the wing window. just an idea.
