re: 67 Heater Switch Wiring
This cable is actually pretty short... but man it's up in the dash pretty good, and there's not a lot of "wiggle" room to get the switch portion wired up and in place. I ended up taking out the ashtray and the glove box liner. The glove box actually gave me the best line on removing the screw to release the old cable from the bracket clamp. Hopefully I can get the clamp back together okay.
By the way, I would NOT have gotten that darn bezel nut off without the tool I got off of ebay! The PO had hacked at it with something, so the grooves were a little stripped out. I was able to use a small punch to kind of create something for the prongs to grab, then put a wrench on the bezel too. Pretty nice...
FYI, the '67 knobs do not have an allen screw. At least, the ones on my truck do not. They are held down by a groove. As far as I can tell, you just have to pull really hard to get it off (that's what I did). Hopefully it goes back on easily. I'll have to be careful putting it back on to not bust the switch. Makes me wonder if that's how it got screwed up the first time. I may put a drop of superglue in ther just to help with the hold, but it should go back on tightly.

re: 67 Heater Switch Wiring
By the way... The back of the switch is marked with a "B", an "H", and an "L". I don't know what the "B" stands for, other than perhaps the wire color. The "H" stands for "Hi", and the L for "Lo".
The bezel and hole are "D" shaped, so it only goes in one way. That sets the prongs with one to the top, and one on each side. The wiring to this switch goes like this:
Top "B" (gold prong): Brown wire (it's actually a double wire, but I can't remember the other color)
Drivers side "H" (reddish prong): Red wire
Passenger side "L" (silver prong): Orange wire
Hope this helps someone down the road...

re: 67 Heater Switch Wiring
I'd look closer at that knob, there should be a very small allen set screw in the side towards the bottom. Both the wiper and heater switch knobs on the '67 have these. Not the other two heater controls, but the fan switch does.

Mine does not... trust me... looked it over good before I finally pulled on it and just yanked it off the stem. There are no set screws on ANY of my heater control switch knobs OR my choke knob. They are all "D" knobs. Perhaps a mid-year change?

re: 67 Heater Switch Wiring
Welp... the new switch is in and all hooked up, and everything is back in place! It works great, and looks SO much better now that I've gotten rid of those toggle switches.
BUT... PROBLEM!! I couldn't get the control knob back on and in trying to force it, it BROKE (in half)!!
What are the odds that any of you guys have a 67-style knob that fits a "D" pull?? If so, please let me know if you're willing to part with it, and for how much. FYI, the other heater knobs pull rods are not D-shaped.

re: 67 Heater Switch Wiring
have you tried a wiper switch knob? I believe it is a D shaft also. I am off work tomorrow & i have 4 so i'll try one and see if it will work. Then at least you'll have the "right" knob
could be someone glued an incorrect knob onto the switch you have. I'll post my results in the a.m.

Thanks... 67mann is sending me a knob, but he said it's round on the inside. Said it fit, though, but he's not sure if it's the right style or not. I'll know when I get it, I s'pose.
I found it odd that the knob I had on mine was a D-knob, and was on the stem all the way, but the stem had a notch like the ones with the allen screw had. It could have been a replacement where someone used the wrong knob. Now it's broken in half and stuck on the stem, so I'll have to cut it off.
Please do let me know what you find out about how the wiper switch knob works on the heater switch.

re: 67 Heater Switch Wiring
supermike, i just got through trying out the knobs. The wiper knob does in fact work, the hole is round as well as the heater knob. I worked the switch left-right-pull-push, all worked fine. It is the same size allen also. here are a couple pics for you to look at. first is my controls;
http://s255.photobucket.com/albums/hh14 ... rshaft.jpg
next is side by side, at right with allen wrench is my heater knob
http://s255.photobucket.com/albums/hh14 ... =knobs.jpg
finally a closer view of the wiper knob, from one of my junkyard wiper switches
http://s255.photobucket.com/albums/hh14 ... erknob.jpg
in the side by side you can see that the holes on both are round, in my truck the allen sits straight up at 12 o'clock, which corresponds to the flat on the shaft.
I hope this helps you out. David

David,
Thanks you very much for this info and the comparison. It definitely helps me, and will surely help others down the road.
I can say with absolute certainty that my heater switch knob on my '67 did NOT have an allen set screw, nor do any of the other heater knobs OR the choke knob. I'm wondering now if this might have been a mid-year change, once Ford found out that replacing it was a real pain when they had to work on the heater switch? Or perhaps was different based on where the truck was made?? Very interesting.
However, it gives me comfort knowing the knob I'm getting from 67mann should work, even though it's not a "D" knob. It looks more like your wiper knob, but he found the same thing you did with regard to the knob being round on the inside and having the set screw, but on a "D" post.

re: 67 Heater Switch Wiring
as far as i can tell the only ones with setscrews are the wiper and heater on/off knobs. To tell the truth i didn't notice mine til i pulled parts off of a 67 CS, i came home and looked at mine and sure enough was a screw there
Glad i could be of help to someone, not just ask questions all the time.
We '67 owners gotta stick together or else all our dashes will have 'dents' from bangin our heads on 'em

Re: re: 67 Heater Switch Wiring
No doubt!! I didn't realize how unique the '67 was on so many levels until I bought mine. But now I wouldn't trade it for anything... I appreciate the differences, even if they do frustrate me sometimes!4th effie n counting wrote: We '67 owners gotta stick together or else all our dashes will have 'dents' from bangin our heads on 'em
