Always check your grounds.

And make sure your wires don't get crossed!

Someone once asked me, why I needed to test my harnesses if I'm so sure of the quality, and I answered "Just because I need to."

Out of the hundreds of harnesses I have built for trucks and bikes over the last couple years, this is the first time I've done this, and a prime example of why I test my harnesses before I send them out.

This is what happens when you put the ground wire where it doesn't belong. It quickly (as in a matter of seconds) lets ALL the magic smoke out, and the wires don't work anymore (and it fills your garage up with a very nasty smelly mess)

And once the smokes out, there's no getting it back in.

Paul,

Very good point.

I've seen enough smoke let out of the majic wires in my lifetime to send signals out to the chief in the next village!

WRONG!!!

390 brings up a very good point here. If folks would remember that the ground side of the circuit is 1/2 of the circuit itself, a lot of problems would disappear.

But they don't....so my job is secure :)

Ya, I know about that smoke. Was playing with some electronics at school and burned up some digital clocks. Had a nice smell.

You know fitzwell, the only problem with that smoke replacement system is it's made by the same company that made the crappy smoke-filled electrics in the first place.

I don't think I'ld be trusting them.

Hey fitzwell...

That's stinkin' hilarious right there...
However, there is a problem... it's for British cars...
so it wouldn't work on our American trucks... :D
