getting grandfathers 67 f100 back running

Post by 67tipp »

after 23 years of being neglected, sunday I finally had all the robbed parts replaced to see if it still would crank. After having my father in law,(who is a mechanic as I am not) come by and tweak a few things, it turned over. A few pats on the gas and roar the dinosaur breathed its first breath of air in 23 years. Quite the milestone that I had been hopeing for. I am 29 years old and not a mechanic, but have found a new interist. Piece by piece, i'll get her road ready once again. :D

I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

I am right there with you guys. My project truck was also my grandfathers. He bought it new in November of 1966. You will have a lot of fun working on these trucks.

67tipp,

Good deal man! That is awesome...23 years without running and it cranked...sweet action!

Please do post some pics up. I'd love to see it. It is also neat that it was your Grandaddy's truck.

Seems sometimes like these old bumps are just sitting waiting on someone to come along and pay them a little attention. I've helped crank many older Fords that have just been sitting for years, even ones that were "locked up". Just a little TLC, marvels mystery oil or pb blaster and patience, they would fire right up and run.
