JC Whitney Overhead Speakers

Post by BiggDogg »

anybody tried this setup before? I'm not too concerned about the quality of the speakers... just wondering how this would fit in our trucks/how we would mount it...

Why not get this instead? http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fb/full.asp?page=68

bottom of the page is a headliner with speakers built in with a radio pod. i was planing on getting this and puting a cb radio in the spot for the radio and leave my head unit in the dash.

Thats pretty nice and looks better. I did find out that the one from JC Whitney is actually too small for our trucks.

An earlier post you might want to check out...

Someone mentioned that you should vent the rubber headliner so it could breath and not hold moisture!!!

There is also a link to a picture of a truck with it installed from the forum.

We have the Headliner with 4 speakers unit. You can actually hear the radio with both windows down at 70. The sound quality is lacking but who cares with dumped flowmasters to listen to. Just my 2 cents

not to get off topic, but I noticed your reply about the dumped flowmasters. I need to replace my exhaust too. What flowmasters are you running? How do you like the way it sounds? Any video or soundclips of it? Thanks!

BiggDogg, Our 67 is totaled now but we had the original flow master 40's. I have a pic of them in our gallery. They sound great, are loud even at idle in the cab. Kind of a deep harmonics thing going on. That is what I meant when I said we could still hear the radio over them. Sorry but no sound clips

Rjewkes, Yes My son was hit in a hit and run and after we repaired that damage he was involved in a 3 car road rage incident with him being the 4th vehicle. The tail gate, interior, engine, tranny and rear end is all that was salvagable. I purchased it back from State farm, so some time in the distant future it will live again. Think I will try a short bed 67 this time around. I have to sell the 68 high boy in my divorce I got from Matt so that dream is gone as well. Sorry to steal this thread every one
