Is this door weatherstrip on ebay accurate?

Post by F100builder »

Don't the originals have a flat area under the sill plates? It's hard to tell but these look like a universal fit and not very accurate to our trucks. Am I wrong?

Thanks for starting the thread...My truck desparately needs some so I placed a bid...For $25.00, I'll take a chance that they may be sub-standard...I've bought two sets, and neither had the flat area under the sill plates---you just had to squeeze it when you screwed the sill plates down...Seemed like they didn't come rolled like that, 'tho---they sort of had molded in 90 degree turns at the corners IIRC...

Yeah I noticed the 'made in USA' and thought WOW, it's hard to find that these days! They look like they're quality parts (they claim to be the best) but from the picture, they don't look accurate. 100% accuracy isn't vital to me but I'd pay 10 more bucks to have some that look original.

$25 must have been your maximum bid but no one bid against you so you won with the starting bid of $24. We'll be waiting! :D

i'm sure those are going to be the ones to buy they have the best price i have seen. i am watching these giuys and will be getting some from them myself because the rubber is just a roll of stuff is all it is. i have never seen any that has been specially molded for a car or truck. except for what joe was saying about the corners. i have never seen that myself. that woudl be cool to get the molded corners.

I bought the same set last spring but haven't gotten them installed yet. They seemed pretty decent, I'll have to get them out and have another look.

I got the weatherstripping delivered to my door on Friday after paying them on Monday...They appear to be a little lighter weight than the originals, but same size and shape and they go around the corners well...Pretty good deal for $24.00...

Hmmmm...

I am having trouble cosing my door since I put some "NON US" seals on.

For that price I might get some too.

So how does your door close now?

I haven't quite put them on yet 'cuz I'm going to do some carpet and other things...But I've put several sets on several different vehicles and they all gave me trouble closing the door afterwards...I think the striker plate needs to be re-adjusted after the weatherstripping is put on...Or maybe somebody else here knows??

Mine (when latched all the way) closes flush and lignes up great. It starts to bind on the seals in the front of the door a few inches before it closes.

If these are a little smaller/thinner, I think it might fix my problem.

dan how long have you had those on there? they do take some time to relax and mash down. they will fit tight for quite awhile. that is how they seal up the weather and road noise somewhat. i know what your saying about how they seem to be hitting before the door closes. well whatever it was that you said. maybe they are tooo big. how did they compare to your old ones as far as size?
