Full Bump

Post by 67mann »

First off,Let me start by saying--this is something I want to do and have the avalible parts to work with. This is by no means needed and I'm sure alot of ya will have different Ideas and opions on how it could've or should've been done.I like the look of the continuos bump as opposed to the side marker light on my box---so I started by taking the box support off my 67 bedside panel
Image
I cut an 1'' ahead of the seam--so I could get to the spot welds and remove the corner post undamaged
Image
Image
This was at the end of the day(yesterday)and I've yet to start reverse process of taking my post off
Image
I will post more after today-- I already know---just use a 67 box--if only parts were plentiful around here
I've had enough and I'm not alone

Sounds like a good idea to me. Course, I'm partial to 67's. :)

Keep us updated, I'm anxious to see the end result.

the easy way would have been to cut the bump off of one of them and weld it onto the other one. the replacement nos piece is just a small piece of metal that covers that light hole anyway. they are 14.00 a pair from ford. i think the still have them ion stock. someone here ordered a pair a while back.

no he didnt show pics of them installed he decided he didnt want to do the work and sent the parts back. he said he thought the parts cost too much for what he got.

Looks good, I have a '68 box with the left tail light surround smashed in and was wondering what to do with it, so this is helping me.

A long productive day and an end to this thread--its done. In hindsite, too anybody that might(damaged post)want to do this switch. The spot welds up the bedside----could be acssesed up inside the box from the bottom. I
would think that you would have to have a smaller drill(maybe an air drill)
to do it,but you wouldn't ruin your bedside this way.The other ones can be seen through the tailight hole and inside the box.
Well here it is--welded back in place
Image
These spot welds were pretty easy to get to--I broke out the stick--for the ones way up
Image
Make sure you do some measuring before welding(tailgates gotta fit)the post to box floor
Image
I forgot to take pics of the repair--but these are finished(for now)product pics
Image
Image
Yes I have other side to do yet and other work on the box, those pics will be back in my project thread---70 custom
I've had enough and I'm not alone
